MINI USA AND THE MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS RACE TEAM WIN BACK-TO-BACK RACES AT ROAD AMERICA

Team follows up dominant showing at Road America in 2023 with two first-place finishes to continue strong 2024 season

Woodcliff Lake, NJ,  August 22, 2024. MINI USA and the MINI John Cooper Works Team hit the track decisively in the fifth race weekend of the 2024 SRO TC America series, taking two first-place finishes at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. This comes after the team secured five total podiums, including a Race 2 victory, at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Week 4 of the competition. It also solidifies a streak of success at Road America, where the team secured four total podiums including one first place, one second place, and two third place finishes in 2023.

Cristian Perocarpi, behind the wheel of the #37 MINI JCW PRO, secured both first place finishes in the Touring Car (TC) class, alongside teammate Scott Thomson in the #66 MINI JCW PRO. They were also joined by P.J. Groenke in the #62 MINI JCW and Bruce Myrehn in the #63 MINI JCW in the Touring Car A (TCA) class.

“We’re in the back half of the season now and every podium counts, so to bring home two victories in one weekend is a massive step toward success,”  said Luis Perocarpi, team owner, LAP Motorsports. “This group of drivers continues to prove that they’re capable of great things, and we’ll be ready to keep the momentum going in September.”

To highlight MINI’s famous support for owner customization, the MINI USA and the MINI JCW Team once again featured a special rooftop graphic on the roof of the #37 MINI JCW PRO driven by Perocarpi this weekend.

The MINI JCW Race Team full time crew at Road America were joined by three MINI dealer technicians as part of the MINI Technician Race Crew Program. Every race weekend MINI dealer technicians support the team at the track during practice, qualifying and race days for the entire weekend. The race team relies on the skill and knowledge of the technicians that work, day to day on MINI, to bring that expertise to the track. This weekend the team was supported by MINI dealer technicians from MINI of Des Moines, International MINI and MINI of Orlando. Last season the team was supported by more than 20 qualified MINI dealer technicians and were also voted Crew of the Year by the series’ credentialed participants and competitors.

The MINI JCW Race Team finished the 2023 SRO TC America Series as runner up for both the Manufacturer’s Championship and Team Championship. The team has two more race weekends before wrapping the season and determining final standings, with the next stop of the series at Barber Motorsports Park on September 6 – 8, followed by the series finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on October 3 – 6.
